It’s March Madness again, and with the surprisingly mild temperatures a lot of the country has been seeing this year (knock on wood) it’s inspired a lot of people to get out there and take up their favorite sport!
Of course, whatever your chosen sport – basketball, football, curling – most sports require at least some degree of equipment, and you’ve got to find somewhere to put it all! If you need a little extra garage storage for you and your team’s gear, here’s a few tips and items to keep in mind:
Uniforms & Pads
If your sport of choice requires a lot of protective gear, or maybe you’ve got a jersey to call your own (with the number of your choice, naturally), keeping a home locker on hand will give you a safe and convenient place to hang these items and keep them both out of the way and safe from damage.
Basketballs, Baseballs, Hockey Pucks, Etc
Smaller items like this have a bad habit of rolling away, getting stuck under things, and basically just getting in the way when you don’t need them to. Colored plastic storage bins can be an ideal way to keep smaller game-centric items like hockey pucks, tennis balls, beanbags, or whatever it is you need to hang onto.
Larger Items – Bats, Hockey Sticks
Of course, not everything is the size of a baseball, and these can present their own headaches. A good way to keep larger things like hockey sticks or extra golf clubs out of the way is to bring in some wire shelving to store these items up off the floor and out of the way, all the better to prevent damage and free up space elsewhere.
Even Larger Items – Camping Gear, Bikes, Golf Bags
Some items are so big that they require their own dedicated, specially designed storage solutions. If you have bigger items that require a little more delicate touch to prevent damage such as mountain bikes, golf bags, or camping/hiking equipment, then you might want to consider specific sports equipment storage to keep these things up off the floor and out of harm’s (and your) way.
