why your home needs more shelf liners

Shelf liners and wooden shelf inserts are some of the handiest things you can buy for your shelves – but it can be tricky to know where to start with using them.

Every home has a lot of shelves, and on each of those shelves there’s probably a lot of stuff. At that point, why fix what isn’t broken, right?

But the use of shelf liners can actually help those shelves work harder and hold more of your stuff. It’s just a matter of knowing where to use them, and how!

Where to use Shelf Liners at Home

Any shelf that needs to be cleaned frequently: Let’s face it – a lot of our shelves tend to work pretty hard for us, and that means they can wind up kind of…cruddy. Think things like wire kitchen shelves, basement shelves, and other shelving in areas that tend to be a little harder to keep clean. By placing shelf liners on these shelves, the material will be much easier to dust and clean off, keeping your shelves looking much nicer than they might otherwise!

Any shelf that needs more surface space: Particularly with home wire shelves, a lot of goods that tend to fall over or roll away don’t work as well on more ‘open’ shelving. Shelf liners can help create a more stable surface for these items, preventing loss or damage on things that might take a tumble otherwise!

Any shelf or drawer with a paint job: When used on an antique desk, inside a restored chest of drawers, or other painted surfaces, shelf liners can help to prevent scratches and maintain the paint job better. Imagine not having to stress about keeping those pens inside your favorite old bureau anymore!

Shelves that hold sharper tools: Similarly, when used in the kitchen or garage, shelf liners can help maintain the condition of your drawers and shelves by providing a layer of protection. Don’t worry about your vintage potato peeler or bike repair tools scratching up your wooden storage furniture anymore – the liner can handle it all!

Anything with a security deposit: If you’re a renter, one of the worst feelings in the world is losing your security deposit over something small, like a cabinet or kitchen drawer. If this is a worry of yours, shelf liners can help reduce the risk of something getting scratched up and causing you to lose out on part of your deposit.

These are just a few of the places that shelf liners can come in handy – but trust us when we say they’ll definitely come in handy for your house!
